What is Orthokeratology?
Ortho-K short for Orthokeratology is a non-surgical procedure using specially designed contact lenses to softly reshape the curvature of the eye to correct your vision. This revolutionary procedure happens while you sleep and eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses.
This safe and effective treatment can correct many short-sighted prescriptions. In children, it stops or slows the increase in short-sightedness as they are growing. It is a great alternative to laser eye correction surgery for those who don't want to risk permanent surgery. If you suffer from dry, tired eyes with your current contact lenses, Ortho-K could be the perfect solution.
For best results, you should wear the ortho-k lenses every night and you should be able to see reasonably well without glasses or contact lenses for a day or two – sometimes longer. Most people with mild to moderate myopia (with or without mild astigmatism) are good candidates for ortho-k.
Ortho-K is a innovative, pioneering creation in the optical industry and here at, Ferrier & MacKinnon, we provide you with an in-depth discussion about the various options specifically tailored to you and your needs.
